Our Vision
Hotel Westminster strives to preserve its heritage while remaining aligned with contemporary challenges. Through a sustainable development model, the hotel is committed to protecting our planet, its people, and its heritage. All our operational decisions are guided by a deep respect for the environment and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Below are our key development priorities for the coming years.
Key Development Areas
1. Governance and Integration of Sustainability
Our commitment to sustainability is embedded at every level of the hotel, from management to each staff member. This approach is structured around several key pillars, including continuous staff training, the integration of environmental best practices, and transparent communication with our guests. Our Eco Committee, made up of representatives from each department, meets monthly to steer and evaluate all sustainability initiatives.
2. Environmental Management
To reduce our ecological footprint, we have implemented various initiatives to optimise energy and water consumption, reduce waste, and promote the use of sustainable materials. Key actions include:
- Energy: Use of renewable energy and installation of smart systems to optimise consumption (smart thermostats, motion sensors). A heat recovery system on our cooling unit reduces natural gas consumption for domestic hot water. Our targets are -5% electricity consumption in 2026 and -50% CO₂e emissions by 2030.
- Water: Reduction of consumption through the installation of water-saving devices such as flow reducers. Our objective is a 2% decrease in water consumption.
- Waste: We support a selective waste sorting policy, the gradual elimination of single-use plastics, and collaborate with local companies to ensure effective recycling. Waste volumes are monitored and measured as part of our continuous improvement approach.
3. Socio-Cultural Commitment
The hotel places strong emphasis on social inclusion and support for the local community:
- Local employment: We prioritise hiring local staff and offer professional reintegration opportunities.
- Local partnerships: Collaboration with local producers for our restaurant, ensuring seasonal products sourced from sustainable practices.
- Social inclusion: Support for the Les Hôtels Solidaires association, which collects end-of-life hygiene products and hotel equipment to redistribute to those in need.
- Social partnerships: We welcome interns, support them in their training, and, whenever possible, offer employment opportunities as part of a sustainable reintegration approach.
4. Training and Awareness
Hotel Westminster invests in the continuous training of its staff to promote a culture of eco-responsibility and safety. Regular sessions are organised to raise awareness of environmental issues, safety procedures, first aid, and fire prevention.
5. Certification and Monitoring
We are committed to an annual audit to measure our progress and adjust our strategies accordingly. The Eco Committee oversees the implementation of actions and regularly evaluates the effectiveness of initiatives. Results are recorded in our Carbon Plan register 2026–2030, updated monthly.
6. Conclusion
Hotel Westminster positions itself as a responsible player in Parisian hospitality, striving to make its operations as sustainable as possible. We are proud of our commitment to more environmentally and socially responsible tourism.
Through the involvement of our team and strong partnerships with local stakeholders, we continue to improve our practices within a sustainable development approach.
This environmental policy was approved by the full Eco Committee in 2025, in Paris.
