Brimming with history, beautiful Málaga Cathedral was built between 1528 and 1782. Today, this fine example of Renaissance architecture welcomes visitors to explore its stunning interior with an audio guide tour before climbing up to the roof for great views of the surrounding area.
The Alcazaba and Gibralfaro Castle
Offering a great introduction to Andalusia’s Moorish heritage, Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba fortress are steeped in history. Wonderfully preserved, both of these popular landmarks make for a relaxing and interesting afternoon and offer stunning views all the way to Africa.
Located next to the Alcazaba, Málaga’s Roman Theatre is one of the city’s remaining vestiges of Roman history. Today, a visit to this fascinating attraction is enhanced by a contemporary museum which recounts the theatres story.
A fitting tribute to the Spanish master Pablo Picasso, who was born in Málaga, and home to 285 of his works donated by the artist’s family, this contemporary museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and offers a varied educational and cultural programme.
Situated in the city centre, this urban beach stretches for more than a kilometre and is popular with locals and tourists alike throughout the year. As the sun warms up, seek shade underneath the palm groves that line the beach, or nip into one of the many promenade bars and cafes.
