Explore Dallas in Springtime
For a city built on railroads and ranches, Dallas shows off a softer side in springtime. From the botanical gardens in downtown to blooming bluebonnets just outside of it, and from exciting arts to celebrating Cinco de Mayo Tex-Mex style, Dallas is a riot of color, art, and beauty throughout spring. A great destination for romantic getaways, fun trips with friends or as a family, we've selected some of our favorite Dallas springtime must-do's.
While the weather is fine, take the perfect opportunity to get some fresh air and explore the Uptown Oak Lawn neighborhood within easy reach of Warwick Melrose – Dallas. The Katy Trail is a 3.5 mile running, walking, and biking trail following the route of the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad and connecting a variety of Dallas city parks with scenic skyline and park views. A wide concrete trail is perfect for cyclists and inline skaters and is flanked by a soft recycled-rubber walking and jogging path.
Explore the 66 acres at The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden featuring hundreds of cherry blossom trees, half a million tulip bulbs and fantastical topiaries. The Dallas Blooms festival features not only floral wonders but bird talks, flight shows, demonstrations, a guided bird walk through the gardens, tastings, cooking class, wine and beer pairings, book signings, live music and entertainment and children’s activities. A little outside of town, experience an authentic Texas miracle on the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails- over 40 miles of historic mapped driving routes to see the state flower at its best.
Dallas is an art lovers dream destination- with districts dedicated to the arts, culture and creatives. The Bishop Arts District, a charming neighborhood 10 minutes south of downtown, is home to galleries, independent shopping, eclectic dining and bars, vibrant nightlife and performance venues housed in historic buildings. The largest urban arts and performance district in the USA, Dallas Arts District is an opportunity for visitors to view world class exhibits of everything from Picasso, Rodin and Giacometti at the Nasher Sculpture Center to ancient artifacts at the Dallas Museum of Art. Take in a play at the vertically designed Wyly Theater or a performance of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at their beautiful and state of the art Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.
No trip to Dallas would be complete without a little retail therapy- whether you’d like to pick up something for a special person back home, or simply want to treat yourself.
